Embark on a Journey of Discovery in Creswick

Renowned as the birthplace of notable Australian figures such as Prime Minister John Curtin and artist Norman Lindsay, Creswick exudes both beauty and history. As you leisurely wander along its gracefully curved main street, shaded by majestic plane trees and adorned with grand buildings, you can easily envision the vibrant life of this once-thriving gold boomtown during the 1850s.

Thanks to the pioneering efforts of John La Gerche in forestry, Creswick holds the distinction of being the birthplace of Australian reforestation. Today, visitors can marvel at the legacy of La Gerche through the town's splendid street plantings and a dedicated walking trail that highlights his invaluable work.

Immerse yourself further in local history at Creswick Museum, where you'll find a permanent display of artefacts and artworks relating to the Lindsay family. Indulge in the region's culinary delights at one of the many local cafes and restaurants, showcasing the finest in regional produce. For a sporting adventure, tee off at the internationally acclaimed golf course at the RACV Goldfields Resort (designed by Robert Allenby and Tony Cashmore).

Leave time to venture into serene Creswick Regional Park on a bushwalk, where you may be fortunate enough to spot koalas among the treetops. Keep your eyes peeled at nearby St Georges Lake for a glimpse of the elusive platypus, adding a touch of enchantment to your outdoor exploration.

And finally, embark on an adrenaline-fueled journey through Creswick's stunning landscapes on the new Djuwang Baring (Creswick Trails) mountain biking trail network. You'll encounter a blend of natural beauty and thrilling adventure that's sure to get your heart racing. The trailhead is located in Hamon Park — just a short stroll from the town centre.
